About Poochie Mag

I’m a woman (she/her) who lives and creates proudly on Wurundjeri Country. I acknowledge the traditional owners of this land and pay my deep respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.

I started publishing my writing on Substack in February 2023. It started as a way to process my emotions and feel more connected to the people in my community. Are other people feeling what I’m feeling? The answer was almost always, yes.

I have lots of ideas and thoughts on relationships and cultural phenomena, constantly being inspired and shaped by what I read, listen to, and who I talk with.

I’m always drawn to words - spoken or written - to express myself and make meaning.

In the age of content saturation that we are living in, continuing to take the time to experience, reflect, research, converse, write, edit, write, reflect etc. to produce long-form writing is an art that I feel passionate about upholding.

My goal is to build a body of work that feels unashamedly me. And if the people in my community find my (and others) stories helpful and connecting - that makes it even better.

The name Poochie Mag has origins in my nickname, coined by my dear cousin Jimmy (from a silly Simpsons reference).
